I have always spent a long time choosing what food I buy - I can't help it. I'm one of those people you see standing in supermarket aisles for ages reading the fine print on labels.

Luckily for me, my husband is very tolerant. He knows I'm concerned about what we are putting into our bodies, especially now we have a young daughter, Jemilla.

I'm a very organised shopper. I use a template of a shopping list on my computer and the True Food Guide to match the food I need with GE-free brands. That's why I was surprised to see Heinz Watties in the True Food Guide when I had read that their ingredients contained GE. I alerted Greenpeace and they removed Heinz Watties from the 'green' list. This experience made me realise that all the time I spend analysing labels is worthwhile. I'm showing corporations that people can decide to live GE-free, and we don't just believe everything we're told.
