A recent poll conducted by Newspoll and commissioned by Mothers are Demystifying Genetic Engineering (MADGE) and Greenpeace shows that over 66% of Aussie Mums would choose non-GM wheat to feed their families if GM wheat came onto the market. Just 3% of mothers would prefer GM wheat. So why is Australia pushing forward with making Australia the global guinea pigs for GM wheat when the majority of the principal buyers of food for families (yes, it’s still mothers doing the shopping) say they won’t be buying it?
