Truefoodie of the Month: Julie and Andrew McCleod

“With the rising cost of food at the supermarket, my husband and I have been growing as much fruit and veg as we can fit on our suburban piece of land.

The other consideration was also pesticides, chemicals and artificial nutrients used in the production of fruit and veg.  Growing our own, we are in charge of it all - from seed to feed, or stable to table. We can bypass most of the fruit & veg section in the supermarket.

By composting all paper and food waste, we return goodness to the ground and feed worms, which provide nutrient to our garden. The flavour of home grown tomatoes, zucchini, squash, carrots and so on can't be had from supermarkets.

You have to grow it to believe it.”
